What We Stand For:
The Avery County Democratic Party is supporting local and state Democratic candidates, mobilizing voters, and organizing Avery County precincts.
As the oldest continuous political party in the world, the Democratic Party continues to evolve in its commitment to freedom, fairness, human rights, equity, and responsible government. We pledge to uphold this tradition.
The Democratic Party can trace their origins all the way back to the Washington administration of the 1790’s, becoming a modern party in 1828. Despite significant changes over time, we are still a thriving political force today. Our party has led the fight for civil rights, health care, Social Security, workers’ rights, and women’s rights.
Democrats from across the state are united by shared values that define who we are and what we stand for. That means fighting to ensure all North Carolinians have a fair shot at a good life, regardless of their background, where they came from, their economic status, or who they love. To this end, Avery County Democrats are working hard to elect candidates up and down the ballot, support free and fair elections, protect voting rights, mobilize voters, and lead organizing efforts for every precinct.
