About Us

Welcome to Kettell Beerworks, your local haven for craft beer in the heart of Banner Elk, NC. Established in 2010, we proudly hold the title of Avery County’s sole brewery, offering a unique and welcoming experience for both locals and visitors.

Our family-owned and operated brewery boasts 8 to 10 of our own in-house brewed beers on tap, each crafted with care to reflect our passion for quality and innovation. Alongside our beers, we offer a refreshing cider and prosecco on tap, as well as a curated selection of seltzers and wines to satisfy every palate.

Our cozy kitchen serves up delicious pizza, wings, and pretzels, perfect for pairing with our diverse beer lineup.

In January 2024, Joe and Susan Royall took the reins of Kettell Beerworks, inspired by their deep love for the Blue Ridge Mountains and the welcoming community here. After years of frequent visits while living in Burke and Catawba Counties, they made Avery County their permanent home in 2017. Their vision for Kettell is beautifully simple: to create a place where family and community come together. They aim to provide an atmosphere where every guest feels like a valued member of the Kettell Beerworks family.
